In response to ongoing attacks on U.S. forces in Iraq and Syria by Iranian-backed militia groups, the U.S. military conducted targeted strikes in eastern Syria. The strikes targeted facilities used by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and affiliated groups. These precision self-defense strikes aimed to protect U.S. personnel in the region. The attacks by Iranian proxies have resulted in injuries to 21 U.S. soldiers and one contractor’s death during an attack. The U.S. Secretary of Defense emphasized that while the U.S. seeks to avoid further hostilities, it will not tolerate such attacks and will take necessary measures to protect its people.
