In 2021 over 500 of President Joe Biden’s campaign and Democratic Party staffers signed a letter addressed to the president calling for more protection of Palestinian human rights. It was published in May 2021 on the platform Medium after Israeli police raided the Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem which sparked an 11-day war between Israel and Hamas, killing over 200 Palestinians and more than 10 Israelis. On Thursday Biden announced that the U.S. will give $100 million in humanitarian aid for Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank amid the Israel-Hamas war. The White House said in a memo, “This funding will help support over a million displaced and conflict-affected people with clean water, food, hygiene support, medical care, and other essential need.”
