Iran Says “Time Is Over” for Israel Following Explosion at Hamas-Run Hospital in Gaza

On Wednesday Iran’s foreign minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian posted on X that “time is over” for Israel just hours after the Hamas-run Al-Ahli Arab Hospital in Gaza was struck by an explosion that reportedly killed over 500 people.  Hamas blamed Israel for the explosion, but Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) denied responsibility and, after an investigation, determined a rocket misfire launched by the Palestinian Islamic Jihad caused the blast.  Amir-Abdallohian tweeted, “Time is running out very fast. If the war crimes against the Palestinians are not immediately stopped, other multiple fronts will open and this is inevitable.”  Following the news of the hospital explosion, other leaders in the region have also voiced similarly strong reactions.  President Biden, currently in Israel, has denied Israel’s involvement in the attack.  As a result of the hospital blast, the international summit was canceled, which would have included Biden, Jordan’s Abdullah, Egypt’s Abdel-Fattah el-Sissi, and Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas.
