Louisiana Governor’s Seat Flips to Red as Landry Takes Stunning Victory

Objectivity 4.8 | Credibility 4.8 | Relevance 4.8

Louisiana’s gubernatorial race on Saturday was won in a stunning victory for the Republicans by the state’s attorney general, Jeff Landry. Landry will take office after Gov. John Bel Edwards completes his term as the only Democratic governor of the south. Landry was endorsed by President Trump, probably helping him secure over 50% of the vote. The initial expectation for the election was to later hold a runoff in November between the top two vote-getters, but Landry received over half the votes. It proves to be a landslide victory for Republicans and will be very advantageous in the upcoming presidential election for the GOP.
