On Thursday Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) signed an executive order to rescue American citizens from the war zone in Israel. The Florida Division of Emergency Management was given resources to safely transport American citizens back to the Tampa International Airport. Sunday night around 7:45 pm, the plane arrived with 270 U.S. citizens from along the east coast. The state of Florida partnered with the non-profit organization Project Dynamo and the mission was dubbed, “Operation: Promised Land.”  DeSantis and his wife personally greeted the rescued Americans at the tarmac where he stated, “There was a devoid of leadership, so we stepped up and led, we’re happy to be able to deliver that.”
