On Monday presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. announced he was running as an independent, bowing out of the Democratic primary. He made the switch to seek an agenda more suited to his views. After announcing his shift to independent, he urged Americans to embrace the “freedom from the reflex of having to take sides.” Prior to making the switch, RFK Jr. was trailing badly behind Biden among Democrats in the polls. Political strategists from both sides say that RFK Jr.’s new campaign may cause some upheaval during the 2024 election, allowing him to steal votes from both major parties. Four of his siblings slammed his ongoing candidacy, saying it is “dangerous to our country.” RNC Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel said, “Make no mistake – a Democrat in Independent’s clothing is still a Democrat.”
