The Israeli Defense Force guided the foreign press through a small communal settlement of Kfar Aza, also known as a kibbutz. Bodies of both civilians and militants were seen all around the area. “You see the babies, the mothers, the fathers, in their bedrooms, in their protection rooms and how the terrorist kills them. It’s not a war, it’s not a battlefield. It’s a massacre, it’s a terror activity,” commented Israeli Major General Itai Veruv. Israeli troops navigated perilously house to house and disabled booby traps in order to secure the dead for burial. The death toll inflicted by Hamas climbed to 900, with mostly Israeli civilians killed in their rooms. Israeli strikes have flattened buildings and claimed the lives of 770 Gazans.
