Israel remains on guard at its northern border with Lebanon even as it continues airstrikes into Gaza. Civilians in both Israel and Lebanon have either fled or remain in shelters as skirmishes continue. On Monday, six people were killed — three Hezbollah members, an Israeli officer, and two Palestinian militants in an exchange of gunfire. On Tuesday, 15 rockets were fired from Lebanon into Israel with the Iron Dome missile defense system intercepting four and the rest landing in open areas causing no casualties or damage. Israel responded by attacking and destroying two Hezbollah observation posts in Lebanon with tanks. The United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) is monitoring the situation and has called for restraint by both sides. Hezbollah has publicly praised Hamas for its actions in the war with Israel, but has otherwise stopped short of launching a large-scale attack. Some experts say that Hezbollah is simply showing support for Hamas with no real intention of provoking war with Israel.
