Iranian Teenager In Coma After Being Seen Not Wearing Hijab On Subway

Armita Geravand, a 16-year old Iranian girl, is in critical condition and in a coma after allegedly having an encounter with officers enforcing Islamic dress code.  Two Iranian activist groups say that Geravand encountered the same type of situation which led to the death of 22-year-old Mahsa Amini after she was arrested by Iran’s Morality Police.  Amini’s death sparked months of national protest.  Video from a subway station in Tehran shows Geravand, not wearing a hijab, and two other young ladies boarding a train. One of the young ladies is seen backing up quickly and then another girl is shown unconscious and being dragged from the train by other people. The girl’s parents claim that doctors have said Geravand collapsed due to low blood pressure, but activist groups say this is “an oft-repeated scenario from such institutions” and that the parents are being coerced to go along with the official story.
