Trump to Hold Rally for Striking Auto Workers Rather Than Attend 2nd GOP Debate

Objectivity 4.7 | Credibility 4.8 | Relevance 4.7

Former President Donald Trump announced that he will skip the second Republican presidential primary debate next week and instead, will hold a rally with striking autoworkers and other skilled tradesmen.  The event will be held in Detroit on Sept. 27, the same night his GOP rivals debate in California. As Trump currently holds a 44-point lead over his closest Republican primary opponents, his decision to skip the debates signals his intent to defeat President Biden in 2024 by appealing to union members in one of the states he lost to Biden in 2020.  The event will not only be for autoworkers, but for more than 500 tradesmen, including plumbers, electricians and pipe-fitters.  Trump accused Biden of not supporting American auto workers’ interests by promoting electric vehicles.
