Taiwan Warns Of Increased Chinese Military Activity In The Taiwan Strait

Taiwan’s Defense Ministry has sent out a warning that 20 Chinese warships, including the aircraft carrier Shandong along with over 40 warplanes, have deployed to the Taiwan Strait. Over a dozen of the aircraft have crossed the median line dividing China and Taiwan.  Taiwanese Maj. Gen. Huang Wen-Chi said that Chinese military bases opposite Taiwan “are being continuously updated.”  Huang also said, “This year, the Chinese Communist Party has aggressively expanded its armaments and continued to build various types of fighter jets and drones.” Taiwan said that it is bolstering its defenses in case China makes good on its longstanding promise to take over Taiwan by force since democratic forces lost the a civil war with the Chinese Communist Party and fled the mainland in 1949.
