On Wednesday Mayor Eric Adams (D) declared during a townhall speech that the massive increase in illegal immigration will “destroy New York City.” Adams said, “Never in my life have I had a problem that I did not see an ending to. I don’t see an ending to this.” There has been an influx of 110,000 border crossers to NYC since the spring. Adams said every neighborhood will see the damaging effects of this influx. Meanwhile, New York Gov. Kathy Hochul (D), who has supported immigration to the region, said that the increase would benefit local employers looking to hire foreign workers and announced a workforce initiative.
