On Wednesday while in Kyiv, Secretary of State Antony Blinker pledged another $1 billion in aid to Ukraine, declaring that the U.S. is “determined to continue to walk side-by-side” with the country as the war with Russia continues. This amount includes $175 million in military assistance, an additional $100 billion for “long-term military needs,” $206 million for humanitarian aid, and $300 million for “law enforcement efforts to restore and maintain law and order in liberated areas,” according to Blinken. The purpose of Blinken’s trip was to shore up American support for Ukraine amid pressure from the Biden administration for Congress to support another $24 billion in aid to Ukraine, which would bring the total support to $135 billion from the U.S.
