A trial date of March 4, 2024 — one day before Super Tuesday — has been set by federal Judge Tanya Chutkan for the case against former President Donald Trump regarding his efforts to challenge the 2020 election results.  Trial dates were offered by Trump’s lawyers of April 2026 and special counsel Jack Smith of January 2024, but Judge Chutkan deemed them unacceptable.  She said she considered the other trials that President Trump is facing, however, she would not consider his personal or professional circumstances, such as the 2024 presidential campaign schedule.  Trump decried the decision as “election interference” and vowed to bring it to the D.C. Circuit Appeals Court.  He posted on Truth Social, “Today a biased, Trump Hating Judge gave me only a two month extension, just what our corrupt government wanted, SUPER TUESDAY. I will APPEAL!”
