On Sunday after he spent a couple of hours at the beach in Delaware, President Joe Biden responded “no comment” when asked about the rising death toll from the devastating Maui fires.  A tweet from Bloomberg’s White House reporter Justin Sink said:  “After a couple hours on the Rehoboth beach, @potus was asked about the rising death toll in Hawaii. ‘No comment,’ he said before heading home.”  Biden’s last post on X about the fires in Hawaii was on August 10, saying, “Jill and I send our deepest condolences to the families who lost loved ones in the wildfires in Maui. Our prayers are with those whose homes, businesses, and communities are destroyed.”  The wildfires are the deadliest in modern U.S. history with at least 96 people confirmed dead and over 1,000 missing.
