Trump’s Efforts to Dispute the 2020 Election Bring More Indictments from Jack Smith

On Tuesday a Washington D.C. grand jury approved felony charges against former President Donald Trump relating to his attempt to dispute the 2020 election results and the events at the Capitol on January 6, 2021.  The indictment includes four federal charges stemming from special counsel Jack Smith’s investigation. A spokesperson from the Trump campaign said, “This is nothing more than the latest corrupt chapter in the continued pathetic attempt by the Biden Crime Family and their weaponized Department of Justice to interfere with the 2024 Presidential Election, in which President Trump is the undisputed frontrunner and leading by substantial margins.” If the January 6 case against Trump remains in D.C., the prospect of a particularly hostile jury pool remains as voter registration statistics show 77 percent of registered voters are Democrats. Questions arise as to why the “fake charges” are brought after 2 1/2 years and a day after “the big crooked Joe Biden scandal broke out from the halls of Congress.”
