Newly Published FBI Form Sheds Light on First Trump Impeachment

Objectivity 4.6 | Credibility 4.8 | Relevance 4.8

New information has been brought to light about the events in 2019 that led to the first impeachment of former President Donald Trump.  On Thursday an FBI document, form FD-1023, was published by Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA) outlining details of an alleged bribery scheme in which Hunter Biden and then-Vice President Joe Biden received $5 million for shielding Ukrainian energy company Burisma from prosecution.  The FBI form lends new credibility to Trump’s request of Ukrainian President Zelensky in the July 2019 phone call to find out more about Joe Biden’s successful efforts to secure the removal of Viktor Shokin, Ukraine’s top prosecutor at the time. Based on the argument that Trump’s mention of the Bidens’ work in Ukraine reached the level of “high crimes and misdemeanors,” this was enough to bring about Trump’s impeachment by the Democrat-controlled House in December of 2019.
