Muslim Nations Protest Quran Desecration In Sweden

Objectivity 4.8 | Credibility 4.8 | Relevance 4.7

Several Muslim countries have expressed outrage at the desecration of the Quran in Sweden when a self-described Iraqi atheist living in Sweden kicked and stood on Islam’s holy book outside the Iraqi Embassy.  Yesterday, protestors in Iraq broke into and set fire to the Swedish Embassy in Baghdad after news that Swedish police were going to allow the protest.  Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani ultimately expelled the Swedish ambassador and recalled Iraqi charge d’affaires from Sweden.  More protests are planned in Iraq and Iran, with the Iranian Foreign Minister sending a letter of protest to the U.N. Secretary General.  Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Jordan and Turkey have all summoned the respective Swedish ambassadors and protested the 2nd desecration of Quran by Salwan Momika. On June 28 Momika burned pages of the Quran  in front of a Stockholm mosque during the major Muslim holiday of Eid al-Adha.
