Muslims In Pakistan Protest Burning Of Quran In Sweden

Objectivity 4.8 | Credibility 4.8 | Relevance 4.6

Muslims in Pakistan are holding anti-Sweden protests after a man burned the Quran outside a mosque in Stockholm on a Muslim holiday last Wednesday.  Swedish media identified the man as a Christian from Iraq. Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif called for Friday to be a “Day of the Sanctity of Quran” along with other Pakistani lawmakers.  Sweden is now considering amending the law which allows the burning of the Quran after arrests have been made in Sweden and Germany for the alleged planning of terrorist acts in response to the burning. Saudi Arabia, Iran and Iraq condemned the act, and Morocco recalled its ambassador from Sweden in protest. Turkey has also responded to the incident by saying that Sweden “brings problems to NATO instead of more power” by allowing such “provocations.”
