Blinken Meets With Chinese President to Discuss U.S.-China Relationship

Chinese President Xi Jinping and U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken met in Beijing on Monday. “We have no illusions about the challenges of managing this relationship. There are many issues on which we profoundly, even vehemently disagree,” said Blinken referring to China-U.S. relationship. During his meeting, Blinken covered topics such as the Russia-Ukraine war, North Korea’s violent rhetoric and actions, and China’s provocative actions against Taiwan. Referring to the Taiwan situation, Blinken said, “We made it clear that we oppose any unilateral changes to the status quo by either side.”
