Last week a report was released by the House Oversight Committee of a review of emails and documents from Hunter Biden’s laptop. It was revealed that in 2016 during Joe Biden’s term as vice president, Hunter Biden met with a State Department official, then-U.S. ambassador to Romania Hans Klemm, on behalf of Romanian businessman Gabriel Popoviciu to help in Popoviciu’s corruption case. The report also revealed that Hunter received over $1 million in wire payments from Popoviciu from November 2015 to June 2017. At the time, Hunter was a consultant for Boies Schiller Flexner law firm and worked with the firm’s lawyers to lobby the U.S. embassy in Bucharest to intervene in Popoviciu’s case. This activity raises questions that Hunter engaged in unregistered foreign lobbying.
