Homeless Veterans Kicked Out of NY Hotels Amid Migrant Surge

Hotels in upstate New York have displaced homeless veterans who were waiting for permanent housing options to make room for migrants flowing in from the southern border, according to Sharon Toney-Finch, CEO of Yerik Israel Toney Foundation.  The veterans were not explicitly told it was due to the migrant surge but it has become evident given the timing of Title 42 ending on Thursday. New York State Assemblyman Brian Maher (R) said, “So the Biden administration, Governor Hochul, and the city of New York, they all have a part in this, and it’s a total embarrassment. It’s a slap in the face to veterans, to citizens of New York in this country, who are really being cast aside to allow for asylum seekers to come here.”
