On Tuesday Pakistan was in utter chaos as fears of widescale civil unrest or even civil war could break out following the arrest of former Prime Minister Imran Khan.  In a dramatic scene from viral images and video, Khan was escorted by security forces and rushed off in an armored van.  Immediately Kahn’s party, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), called for mass protests which quickly spread across multiple cities.  Al Jazeera reported, “Khan has been slapped with more than 100 cases – including corruption, ‘terrorism’ and even blasphemy – since he was removed from power last April through a parliamentary vote of no confidence.”  One Pakistani political analyst said, “…it has become crystal clear that the ruling political elite as well as the establishment in the country did not want Imran khan back in any capacity, in any ruling capacity.”
