TX Democrat Rep. Cuellar Argues Against Stricter Gun-Control Measures

Objectivity 4.8 | Credibility 4.8 | Relevance 4.7

On Sunday Texas Democrat Rep. Henry Cuellar said that stricter gun laws would not have prevented Saturday’s mass shooting at a mall in Allen, Texas, that killed eight people.  Cuellar told Fox News in an interview that officials should first investigate what led to the mass shooting, stating, “there’s always telltale signs before, there’s indicators [we] should have looked out for.”  He argues that Democrat-run states with stricter gun-control measures have seen also seen mass shootings in recent months.  He said, “People talk about just making the laws stricter. You’ve got to look at, you know, in states that are blue—very strict laws—you still get this type of mass shooting. So, it does happen across the nation and we have to get to the bottom of this.”
