Western and northern Rwanda experienced heavy rain that started on Tuesday evening, triggering flooding and landslides that have killed at least 109 people according to Rwanda Broadcasting Agency on Wednesday.  Video footage posted by the broadcaster shows muddy water swiftly moving down an inundated road where homes have been destroyed.  François Habitegeko, governor of Rwanda’s Western Province, said, “Our main priority now is to reach every house that has been damaged to ensure we can rescue any person who may be trapped.”  Neighboring Uganda, near the Rwandan border, has also been experiencing deluges and flooding.  Six people died overnight in an area in the southwestern Kisoro district according to Uganda Red Cross.
