Thousands of Migrants Walk Towards U.S.-Mexico Border in Massive Caravan

Objectivity 4.9 | Credibility 4.9 | Relevance 4.7

Around 3,000, mostly Venezuelan, migrants have set out in a large caravan in southern Mexico, walking north in protest against detention centers. The march will end in Mexico City in 10 days, but it is unclear how many of the protesters plan to continue to the U.S.  The migrants are demanding the closure of Mexico’s immigration agency following a fatal fire at a detention center last month in which 40 people died. Activists called the detention centers “jails” and are calling for justice for the killers. The Biden administration expects to lift Title 42 on May 11, although there are lawsuits attempting to keep it in place as this crisis progresses.
