Fox News Agrees to Settlement of Nearly $800 Million with Dominion Voting Systems

On Tuesday Fox News agreed to pay Dominion Voting Systems $787.5 million to avert a trial in a lawsuit brought by the voting machine company.  Just as opening statements were to begin, the case abruptly ended as the stunning settlement emerged.  Dominion claims that Fox promoted lies about the 2020 presidential election.  It is unclear what other consequences Fox may face aside from the massive financial settlement. Fox said, “We are hopeful that our decision to resolve this dispute with Dominion amicably, instead of the acrimony of a divisive trial, allows the country to move forward from these issues.”  Fox is still facing a defamation lawsuit from Smartmatic, another voting technology company.
