New Poll Shows Trump Well Ahead Of GOP Rivals

Objectivity 4.8 | Credibility 4.8 | Relevance 4.8

The latest Morning Consult poll of over 3600 GOP voters shows Trump increased his lead over potential rival DeSantis in the 2024 GOP presidential candidate bid.  Trump gained 56% of GOP votes over DeSantis’ 23%, a 33-point lead.  Former V.P. Mike Pence and former U.N. ambassador Nikki Haley had only 7% and 4% respectively. Pollster Eli Yokley said, “Potential Republican primary voters were 27 points more likely to hear something negative than positive about Trump recently, marking his worst showing in the buzz metric, even as he’s gained support and his favorability rating has ticked up following his New York City arraignment.”  Fox News reports that President Biden plans to run again but has yet to formally announce it.  CNN host Jake Tapper laughed, saying, “So what are we waiting for? I don’t even understand. He’s not going to announce it, he just announced it.”
