The Tennessee Legislature has expelled 2 of 3 Democratic members who participated in an anti-gun protest at the state Capitol building following the shooting at The Covenant School in Nashville.  Reps. Justin Jones and Justin Pearson were expelled but Gloria Johnson escaped expulsion by a single vote. Cameron Sexton, the Republican Speaker of the House wrote on Twitter, “Their actions are and will always be unacceptable, and they break several rules of decorum and procedure on the House floor.”  Before the vote to expel her, Johnson said of the proceedings, “I feel like North Korea has more democracy than we do in the state of Tennessee, and it’s terrifying to me that we’re in this march to fascism.”
