Objectivity 4.8 | Credibility 4.8 | Relevance 4.8

Riley Gaines, former NCAA swimmer who spoke about competing against biological male athlete Lia Thomas, was assaulted by a pro-trans protest group member following her speech on saving women’s sports at San Francisco State University (SFSU) despite having police protection.  Gaines was “hit multiple times by a guy in a dress” and forced to stay in a barricaded room for almost three hours.  The speech, sponsored by Turning Point USA (TPUSA) and The Leadership Institute, was attended by a growing number of protestors when the situation turned violent. A TPUSA spokesperson said that the SFSU’s Queer and Trans Resource Center were behind the violent protest.  No comment has been given from SFSU or the San Francisco Police about the incident.
