On Monday the Wall Street Journal reported that Twitter Files journalist Matt Taibbi encountered a suspiciously timed run-in with the IRS at his New Jersey home the same day he testified before Congress. After being notified of the IRS’s actions, House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan (R-OH) sent a letter demanding answers from IRS Commissioner Daniel Werfel and Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen. Critics are speaking out with concerns about possible government intimidation tactics. A tweet from the Freedom of the Press Foundation reads, “If the IRS visit to @mtaibbi’s house had anything to do with his reporting or recent Congressional testimony it would be a disturbing attack on press freedoms. Let’s hope the government quickly and credibly explains.”
