Chinese President Xi Jinping is making a three-day visit to Moscow as Russia is continuing to wage war with Ukraine and the ICC has issued a warrant for Russian President Vladimir Putin’s arrest for alleged war crimes. Both countries are seeking to deepen their “no-limits friendship” as China looks to Russia for oil and gas to fuel its economy. Putin and Russia gain prestige from China’s visit despite the West’s continued attempts to isolate Russia. Even as the two countries continue to hold joint military exercises, China has called upon Russia and Ukraine to declare a cease-fire in the year-long war.
