U.S. And Allies Hold Military Exercise During South Korea, Japan Talks

United States, Canada, India, Japan and South Korea are holding The Sea Dragon 23 joint military exercise as South Korea and Japan hold talks to strengthen relations in light of growing threats from China and North Korea.  The exercise will focus on anti-submarine drills.  Simultaneously, Russia, China, Iran and other unidentified nations are conducting their own joint exercises called  “Security Bond-2023” in the Gulf of Oman.  AP also reported that Japan and South Korea are making progress at resolving longstanding disputes and reducing trade barriers between the two countries. Fox News reports that North Korea launched an ICBM test towards the East Sea in apparent protest of the joint exercise.
