Investigations into ByteDance, TikTok’s Chinese parent company, have been launched by the FBI and DOJ for allegedly spying on journalists, including Americans.  According to Engadget, ByteDance acknowledged firing four employees who used TikTok to track two American journalists.  This comes as ByteDance is facing pressure to sell its stake in TikTok or risk the app being banned in the U.S.  Criticism has been aimed at the Biden administration for being dismissive of the security threat the China-based company poses, especially after a Biden-connected consulting firm was hired by the company.  The DOJ has served subpoenas to ByteDance according to Forbes.
