Biden’s Education Department is set to remove the Trump 2019 Religious Liberty and Free Inquiry Final Rule, which allows the federal government to withhold federal aid to any college which discriminates against any religious groups or fails to provide academic freedom and free speech. The department filed a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRM) on February 21 arguing that the rule is not necessary because students who feel that their rights have been violated can sue universities. But the non-profit Advancing American Freedom (AAF), founded by former vice-president Mike Pence, says that the rule is necessary because history shows that “religious groups (particularly minority religions) are always at risk of having their First Amendment rights infringed.â€
