Meta, the parent of Facebook, has announced that it plans to eliminate another 10,000 jobs in a second-round of layoffs in the last six months. In addition to the layoffs, Meta will halt plans for hiring on 5,000 positions. The first layoff last fall affected more than 11,000 people, or about 13% of its workforce at the time. Chief Executive Mark Zuckerberg said that the layoffs would be announced starting in April or May, but could continue through the rest of the year. Zuckerberg wrote, “I think we should prepare ourselves for the possibility that this new economic reality will continue for many years.”
