After removing the mirrors in a girls’ bathroom at Christopher Whitehead Language College in Worcester, England, the head teacher replaced them with posters of “motivational” messages about beauty. For example, one read, “Dear girls, Makeup is a harmful drug. Once you start using it, you’ll feel ugly without it.” Parents complained that these are not “motivational” quotes, but are “sending the wrong message.” The school’s head teacher, Neil Morris explained the mirrors were removed temporarily to stop socializing in the bathrooms that blocked the path to the toilets, but admitted, “With hindsight, the posters should have been placed in their classroom area, not in one toilet.”
