Multiple States Considering Bills Limiting “Adult Cabaret”

Multiple states are considering bills which would ban “adult cabaret” performances, which include male or female impersonations or “drag shows,” on public property or places where it could be viewed by children.  In Kentucky, Senate Bill 115 received criticism from those who claim that such laws violate the First Amendment. Kentucky State Senator Lindsey Tichenor (R) said, “This bill is pro-children. For some reason, people want this type of content in front of children. And I would dare ask, why? Why do we need to sexualize our children?” Other states considering similar laws are North Dakota, Oklahoma, Idaho and Montana.
