In a special purpose investigation in Fulton County, Georgia, attorneys representing former President Donald Trump said the investigation process has been compromised due to the recent public statements made by the foreperson of the grand jury, Emily Kohrs. Kohrs gave high-profile interviews to The New York Times, CNN, and NBC about the case. Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis initiated the special purpose grand jury and intends to investigate Trump and his allies for their “attempts to influence the administration of the 2020 Georgia General Election.” The jury panel can only recommend indictments to the DA; they do not have indictment powers.
