New York 5th grade teacher Debra Rosenquist, who teaches at the Terryville Road Elementary School, has been named in a lawsuit along with school principal, Annemarie V. Sciove, and district superintendent, Jennifer J. Quinn. The lawsuit accuses Rosenquist of “manipulating” a 5th grade girl into adopting a different gender without parental knowledge or consent which led the child to have “suicidal ideation.” Rosenquist allegedly used a male name and pronouns when referring to the female student during the 2021-2022 school year, which caused the girl to become confused and make suicidal references in drawings. Superintendent Quinn said in a statement that after an investigation, “action is [being] taken in accordance with applicable laws and collective bargaining agreements.”
