Two Dutch F-35 fighters intercepted 3 Russian aircraft, two Su-27 Flanker fighters and an IL-20M Coot-A, a Russian reconnaissance aircraft, near Poland’s northern border with Russia along the Baltic Sea on Monday. The Russian aircraft were approaching Polish airspace and the F-35’s escorted them back into international airspace. According to the Jerusalem Post, the Russian aircraft were then shadowed by German Eurofighters because the Russian aircraft were “posing a danger to other air users by ignoring international air safety rules” in a statement from NATO air command. The Polish defense ministry said “none of [its] airspace had been interrupted.”
