Two NJ Republicans Council Members Gunned Down Within a Week; Murders 15 Miles Apart

Objectivity 4.6 | Credibility 4.8 | Relevance 4.6

Exactly one week after the slaying of Sayreville Councilwoman Eunice Dwumfour, Republican Milford councilman Russell Heller was gunned down in his car on Wednesday.  Heller, 51, was found dead in the parking lot outside the local energy company, PSE&G, where he worked as a senior distribution supervisor for 11 years.  Councilwoman Eunice Dwumfour’s killer remains at large. Police have identified Heller’s killer as a former employee, Gary Curtis, who was later found dead in his car from a suspected self-inflicted gun shot.  The two murders were 15 miles apart but authorities have not linked the crimes.  The Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office insisted that Heller’s murder was not related to his political affiliation or elected office and appears to be “an isolated incident.”
