At the hearing called by the House Oversight and Accountability Committee on February 8, Vijaya Gadde, former Twitter executive, admitted that it was a mistake to extend the lock on The New York Post’s account over the Hunter Biden laptop story. The purpose of the hearing is to investigate the circumstances around Twitter’s suppression of the Post’s bombshell Hunter Biden laptop story which broke just weeks ahead of the 2020 presidential election. Republicans have alleged that Twitter inappropriately applied their hacked materials policy and heeded a warning from the FBI about Russian disinformation as their reason to censor the laptop story and that this amounted to election interference.
