Top Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) official Nicholas Palmeri was forced into retirement following an investigation of his close relationship with lawyers defending alleged drug traffickers. Palmeri and his wife spent a few days at criminal lawyer David Macey’s Florida House, who had previously received classified information from a DEA agent for a bribe. Palmeri considers this to be a “witch hunt,” however, under his tenure narcotics coming across the southern border increased. A DEA official stated that the agency “has zero tolerance for improper contacts between defense attorneys and DEA employees” AP reported.
