DEA Top Official Forced Into Retirement For Close Ties to Narcotraffickers’ Lawyer

Top Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) official Nicholas Palmeri was forced into retirement following an investigation of his close relationship with lawyers defending alleged drug traffickers.  Palmeri and his wife spent a few days at criminal lawyer David Macey’s Florida House, who had previously received classified information from a DEA agent for a bribe.  Palmeri considers this to be a “witch hunt,” however, under his tenure narcotics coming across the southern border increased. A DEA official stated that the agency “has zero tolerance for improper contacts between defense attorneys and DEA employees” AP reported.
