The powerful 7.8 earthquake that rocked Turkey and Syria has claimed more than 2,800 lives. Tens of thousands were forced out into the rain and snow to escape the falling debris of their homes, while those trapped cried for help. In Turkey alone, approximately 3,700 buildings were destroyed, according to authorities. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said officials do not know how high the number of dead and injured will rise.
