An egg farm in Bozrah, Connecticut, was plagued with a three-alarm fire that took 4.5 hours to extinguish and over 100 firefighters from at least 16 nearby firehouses. The fire destroyed a 50′ x 600′ chicken coop at Hillandale Farms resulting in the death of approximately 100,000 chickens.  Local news outlet WTIC-TV reported that the cause of the fire has not been determined but an investigation will be launched by the town’s fire marshal.  The timing of this incident is questionably coincidental as egg prices soar due to limited supply.  According to CNBC, the Federal Trade Commission is investigating allegations of a “collusive scheme” by major egg suppliers.
