Georgia Governor Brian Kemp (R) has declared a state-of-emergency in anticipation of rioting in Atlanta this weekend and has activated them to prevent more rioting. The demonstrations which rocked Atlanta last weekend were in protest of police shooting and killing 26-year old Manuel Esteban Paez Teran, who shot an officer during a confrontation as police were clearing an encamped protest of a new training facility for the Atlanta Police Department. In the executive order, Kemp states, “Georgians respect peaceful protests, but do not tolerate acts of violence against persons or property.”
