Russia has launched a renewed offensive against Ukraine, firing missiles and suicide drones against Ukrainian infrastructure including power plants.  It is unknown if the attack is a direct response to the news that the U.S. and Germany have committed to sending advanced main battle tanks to replace Ukraine’s losses of T-72 tanks. The U.S. is sending 31 M1 Abrams  tanks and Germany, 14 Leopard 2 tanks. Ukrainian military expert Oleh Zhdanov says the tanks will “take our ground forces to a qualitatively new level.”  Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov downplayed the importance of the tanks saying, “Those tanks will burn just like any others.”
