VP Kamala Harris did not mention the right to life while quoting the Declaration of Independence during her speech for the 50th anniversary of Roe V. Wade. “We collectively believe and know, America is a promise … A promise we made in the Declaration of Independence, that we are each endowed with the right to liberty and the pursuit of happiness” Harris stated. She criticized GOP lawmakers who are proposing a national ban of abortion, questioning America’s freedom if abortion is outlawed.
