The South African military announced that they will be joining a Russian and Chinese joint naval exercise next month off South Africa’s eastern coast near the cities of Durban and Richards Bay. The exercise will be held from February 17 to 27 and will coincide with the one-year anniversary of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. South Africa has insisted that it has taken a neutral stance in the conflict but the opposition party in South Africa says that participation in the exercise is tantamount to taking sides with Russia.
